This is the cheapest mistake to avoid and one of the most common to make. A deposit made without the required code is a plain deposit: the bonus does not attach, the first deposit is used up, and the offer usually cannot be applied to the second one.

How common is each
Of the 16 US-facing operators tracked here, 8 publish a code that has to be entered and 8 credit the welcome offer without one. There is no way to guess which kind you are dealing with from the brand, the size of the offer or the design of the cashier — it has to be read.
Some cashiers take the code on the deposit form, some in a separate promotions tab that has to be used before depositing. A code typed in the wrong place is the same as no code at all.
The four ways an offer fails to attach
- No code entered. The deposit credits clean. This is the common one.
- Wrong code. Site-wide codes and affiliate codes coexist, and an old one from a search result may be expired but still accepted-looking.
- Wrong deposit method. Several offers are crypto-only or exclude one method; the code is accepted and the bonus is not credited.
- Below the minimum. The offer has its own minimum, often higher than the cashier’s. Deposit minimums here run from $10 to $50, and the bonus floor is a separate number.
What to do if the bonus did not credit
- Stop playing immediately. Once the balance has been wagered, nothing can be undone.
- Open support in the same session and quote the deposit ID and the code.
- Ask specifically whether the bonus can be applied retroactively — some operators will on an untouched balance, and none will on a played one.
- If the answer is no, ask whether the offer can be moved to the next deposit instead. This is granted more often than the first request.
Codes are not the interesting part of the offer
It is worth keeping the code question in proportion: it decides whether you get the bonus, not whether the bonus was worth having. The multiplier basis, the game weighting and the stake cap decide that, and they are the three numbers to compare before you care about the code at all — see rollover math, game weighting and the max-bet rule.

Does a code change the terms?
