(b) and (b+d) are different offers
A requirement written as (b) multiplies the bonus alone. Written as (b+d) it multiplies the bonus and your deposit. Same headline multiplier, very different target. Of the 16 operators tracked here, 8 publish their requirement on bonus plus deposit and 5 on the bonus alone — so the harsher basis is the more common one, not an edge case.

Read that table twice. A 30x (b+d) offer and a 40x (b) offer on the same deposit are much closer than their headline numbers suggest, and the bigger bonus percentage is frequently the worse deal once the multiplier basis is taken into account.
The one-line calculation
Turnover = multiplier × (bonus, or bonus + deposit). Expected cost = turnover × house edge ÷ game weighting.
The first half is arithmetic the operator publishes. The second half is the part that decides whether clearing is realistic: turnover is not free, because every dollar wagered gives back slightly less than a dollar on average. On a game with a 3 per cent edge, $6,000 of turnover costs about $180 in expectation — which is most of a $200 bonus.
Weighting multiplies the pain
If table games count 10 per cent towards the requirement, a $6,000 target needs $60,000 of blackjack, and no house edge is small enough to survive that. This is the reason slots clear bonuses and table games do not: see game weighting for the table.
Where the requirement is not the binding constraint
Two other clauses void more bonuses than rollover does. The first is the max-bet rule, which caps the stake you may place while a bonus is live and voids everything if you cross it — covered in the max-bet rule. A quick way to rank two offers
- Write down the turnover target for each, using the right basis.
- Divide by the expiry window in days: that is the daily turnover you must actually produce.
- Multiply the target by the house edge of the game you intend to play.
- The smaller expected cost wins — the larger headline percentage usually does not.
- The multiplier means nothing without the basis it multiplies.

Frequently asked questions
Is a 25x bonus always better than a 40x bonus?
Not if the 25x is on bonus plus deposit and the 40x is on bonus alone. Work out the turnover target for each before comparing.
Does a bonus ever have positive expected value?
Rarely at these multipliers and weightings. Treat a bonus as extra playing time rather than as money, and the decision gets easier.
What happens to the bonus if I withdraw early?
The unmet portion is removed, and at many sites so are the winnings attached to it. That is what the terms mean by forfeiting.
